Counsel On Call was started in 2000 by attorneys and for attorneys with a straightforward mission: provide experienced professionals a different and fulfilling avenue to practice law on their terms while offering clients a new model to access top talent, gain flexibility and contain costs.
The immediate success of this “Secondment” model brought new opportunities to expand into areas of law that needed — although it wasn’t viewed that way at the time — project management, process development, proper resource allocation and technology.
We utilized the substantial skills of our attorneys and worked in close consultation with some of the most successful corporate legal departments and law firms in the world to develop new, tightly “managed” models for e-discovery, corporate transactions, contracts management, and a variety of labor-intensive practice areas.
Our main service lines — Secondment and Managed Services — have achieved unparalleled results for our clients in both quality and cost savings. They have also created new careers for attorneys, from traditional practice areas to emerging positions such as project manager, process engineer and quality control team member (to name a few).
As a lawyer-to-lawyer business, attorneys provided by Counsel On Call work under the direction and supervision of in-house or outside legal counsel. This allows the client to properly allocate its legal resources and work collaboratively: in-house counsel can focus on business and legal issues, law firms on strategy and high-level work, and Counsel On Call on the people, process and platforms being utilized, as well as on cost containment, technology and continual improvement.
Today, with more than 1,000 attorneys across the globe, three standalone Managed Services Centers and offices across the U.S., our mission has expanded but remains consistent: match the aspirations and skills of our attorneys to the needs of our clients in a transparent, ROI-driven manner … and generate win-win results every time.
