Jessica Watts is a Director of Business Development based out of Counsel On Call’s Dallas office. She cultivates new and existing client relationships and provides value-based solutions for in-house legal departments and law firms.
In her almost 20 years of experience — predominantly in corporate legal departments — Jessica has been recognized for establishing defensible, cost-effective processes for the discovery phase of litigation. An accomplished litigation attorney, Jessica is widely recognized as an eDiscovery expert and has an exceptional record of creating cohesive, innovative and efficient teams to maximize productivity, while inspiring them to perform at their best and think outside the box.
Previously, Jessica worked for Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Hewlett-Packard Company as Discovery Counsel and Associate General Counsel. In this role she created a preferred vendor program to process data gathered for litigation to put in appropriate databases, which allowed lawyers to search, categorize and deliver the data in a timely and organized fashion. She also reduced HP’s technology costs by 65 percent over six years by running RFPs to obtain the best pricing by outsourced vendors. For these reasons, she was able to reduce total spending on discovery programs by 71 percent year-over-year from 2010 to 2016. She also was Counsel for Global Records Management during this time.
Her career with Hewlett-Packard began almost two years prior as a Litigation Attorney with the company, and prior to that she worked in litigation for Electronic Data Systems (EDS), which was purchased by HP. While at EDS, Jessica defended the company during several government inquiries and led a team that designed, tested and implemented a preservation tool to automate the company’s preservation notices.
